DelMonaco Winery Partners with Tennessee Tech. University
We are pleased to announce the addition of two new members to the DelMonaco Winery and Vineyards family of wines: Dulce Nectar Morado (Sweet Purple Nectar) and Espiritu de Oro (Golden Spirit). We have teamed with Tennessee Technological University (TTU) to cultivate a selection of wine worthy of representing both our family and the university.
As the journey from vine to glass began, we had a desire to engage local students in the process. By partnering with the TTU Alumni Association and TTU Agriculture Department, we accomplished this goal. Students from the agricultural program have volunteered their time and energy in assisting with harvest and the planting of a new vineyard. Scholarships were also awarded to students who assisted in the design of our new labels. The finished products are something in which we all find pride.
Inspired by the school’s colors, purple and gold, we crafted the sweet, red wine and dry, white wine to appeal to a range of palettes. Dulce Nectar Morado begins with earthy berry notes on the nose, carries to strawberry and raspberry flavors on the palette, and ends with a smooth, round, lingering finish. The dry white wine Espiritu de Oro has a refreshing acidity, with fresh citrus and tropical fruit aromas which carry over to fruity green apple flavors. Both are a beautiful complement to the blossoming spring and summer weather. As a continuation of support, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Dulce Nectar Morado and Espiritu de Oro will go to support TTU.
Both of these wines have won Gold Medals from the Dixie Classic Wine Competiton in 2011.
